Mayco Micro Stoneware Glazes What are Micros? Micro's are short for microcrystalline, a glaze that develops small crystallization from the zinc and silica during the cooling process. Micros do not actually contain a glass crystal like other Mayco Stoneware crystal glazes; rather, the glaze creates the effect during the firing process. These glazes can be fired from cones 5-10, but the crystallization may not form at higher temperatures. With the exception of Micro Pearl, the micros are not dinnerware safe due to surface durability. We recommend using micros on the outside of dinnerware, below the lip line, or on decorative wares. Purple Aster is a glossy, semi-opaque lavender glaze that breaks over texture and develops a pale violet frost; deep blue crystals melt into cascading blossoms of indigo. stable at 3 coats, even with heavy application. Micro Pearl is a glossy, semi-opaque white glaze with lilac undertones that breaks over texture. Iridescent micro-crystallization in shades of lilac and pale yellow will develop during the firing process. This glaze is stable at 3 coats. Additional coats or increased application thickness may result in movement. Micro Champagne is a glossy, translucent amber glaze with a mauve float that breaks over texture. Blooms of shimmering gold micro-crystallization will develop during the firing process. This glaze is fluid at 3 coats. Recede the application to avoid unwanted runoff. Due to the translucent nature of this product, be aware of your application's consistency and thickness to avoid streaky brushstrokes. Micro Jade is a glossy, translucent, jade green glaze with a turquoise float that breaks over texture. Blooms of shimmering bronze micro-crystallization will develop during the firing process. This glaze is fluid at 3 coats. Recede application to avoid unwanted runoff. Micro Cerulean is a glossy, translucent, medium blue glaze with an aqua float that breaks over texture. Blooms of shimmering blue micro-crystallization will develop during the firing process.
