3MgO*4SiO2*H2O

Synonyms: French chalk, soapstone. This often-used secondary flux is a platty talc mineral that is an insoluble and a convenient source of magnesium oxide for glazes.

Note: the other talc alternative is Nytal Talc. This grade is a tremolitic mineral form and is used in clay body formulations.
