Continental Clay Company, is a national dealer and distributor of quality pottery equipment. We are able to provide the broadest potters wheel selection and support in the industry.

Our staff, many of whom have over 30 years of sales and repair experience can advise, explain and support almost any pottery wheel, electric or manual. We realize how detrimental down time can be whether in the classroom or ceramic studio and will work to solve your problem quickly.

Continental Clay Company stocks a wide variety of parts and components for many electric models along with phone support of hard to find, older workhorse wheels. Wheel brands such as: Brent; Creative Industries, Lockerbie, Pacifica, Shimpo, Soldner and Thomas Stuart are among the quality wheel manufacturers we represent. This diverse wheel offering allows you to shop and get questions answered at one store.

When calling with repair questions, it is helpful to have the make, model and serial number available.

KILN REPAIR
Kilns suffer the most wear and tear and therefore require the most maintenance of any equipment used in the ceramic process. There are several key checkpoints in assessing the performance of your kiln. These should be done regularly.

For manually operated kilns with kiln sitter shutoff mechanisms:

1 - Check condition of sitter tube assembly.

2 - Make sure cone supports are free of debris and corrosion with adequate kiln wash on cone resting edges.

3 - Make sure main contact plunger button can engage and release freely.

4 - Using a firing gauge, confirm the setting of sitter tube sensing rod and the claw catch components. ( Link to troubleshooting)

5 - Check to make sure kiln is level. (very important)

6 - Vacuum element channels regularly.

For automatic computer operated kilns:

1 - Check condition of thermocouple inspecting for sagging or cracks.

2 - Vacuum element channels regularly.

3 - If errors occur during a firing, fire the kiln empty to the desired glaze temperature this will assess the element condition and ability of the kiln to reach temperature without jeopardizing a glaze load.

Again, when calling with repair questions, it is helpful to have the make, model and serial number available.
